Areas of researchResearch over the past five years has focused on three main topics: appeals; evidentiary proceedings; personal freedom. The idea has always been to develop reflections combining newly identified areas with constitutional principles, and principles emerging from international charters, in particular from the ECHR. The themes developed are crucial to the development of the process because they relate to weaknesses and sensitive areas of criminal procedure, when they conflict and often collide with guarantees, on the one hand, and reasonable duration, on the other. The prospects are to make a contribution to the modernization of the regulatory apparatus in order to render procedures consistent with principles of a fair and equitable criminal trial. |
